Classic Apple Moment: Newton Handwriting Recognition

Here’s a fun little retro vid clip I came across earlier today. The 9-second clip from an old Simpsons episode is short, sweet, and really funny.
With all the recent iPhone buzz, it’s kind of fun to look back at Apple’s earlier, less than successful entry into the handheld market.
Now if you’re really feeling nostalgic, and have 9 minutes to kill, check out this great Newton “Getting Started” video.
As much as I don’t long for the good ‘ole days, at least the Newton supported cutting and pasting content.

That’s an awesome clip. Reminds me of the Newton version of the age old lightbulb joke….
Q: How many Newtons does it take to change a lightbulb?

If the iPhone didn’t support word correction, I’m pretty sure the answer would still be the same.
