Apparently, it’s official. Robbie Bach, who oversaw development of the original Xbox, is now working on a device and music store combination to try and grab up market share from Apple’s iPod and iTunes services.
Supposedly they’ll be doing more to inject a sense of community into the music/video store experience than Apple has, so that MIGHT be interesting, but it wouldn’t take long for Apple to do the same.
Bottom line, with Apple’s installed base estimated at 40 million-plus, hasn’t this battle already been won, or is it just me?

Hi everyone.
What's a good alternative to the IPOD?
I'm wondering if any of you can recommend a good MP3 player that is comparable to the IPod but WITHOUT they hype and price tabe to go with it.
I was at the apple store a few days ago, and really liked the new 40GB or 80GB IPods that also show video, but was wondering if I could get the same kind of funcationality without that heftly price tag.
