gears of war release date leaked by microsoft?

This screen capture grabbed from xbox.com today is either a slip-up or Cliffy B’s much-anticipated Xbox 360 shooter Gears of War has an official date of October 2, 2006. It wouldn’t be the first time that a date was posted for a game that isn’t accurate, but I’m marking my calendar just in case. You be the judge.

[...] A couple of weeks back, I reported a rumored October 2 launch date for the eagerly anticipated Gears of War. Well today, Microsoft Game Studios announced an official launch date of November 12, 2006 at a retail price of $59.99 USD (A $69.95 “Special Edition” is also anticipated - no surprise there). With the PS3 arriving just 5 days later, it’s not exactly the Halo 3 launch that Bill Gates promised way back when, but all indications are that GOW could be the first truly “killer app” for the 360.
