LG is showing off their new HT702TN home theater setup which they’re calling a “5.3 channel” system.

LG is using the term as a result of additional woofers in the front left and right channels which are supposed to improve low frequency response. Last I heard, 5.1 systems weren’t forbidden from having woofers in the front left and right speakers, so I’m not sure why LG has made up this new term for something that has long been available in other systems. Other than just marketing silliness, can anyone tell me why this would be any better than a 5.1 system?
