Nyko Intercooler Not Cool for Microsoft

October 26th, 2006 by: Technabob

nyko intercoolerAccording to a post at GWN, Microsoft clearly does not sanction the use of the popular Nyko Intercooler on the Xbox 360.

The first Microsoft rep stated that the device simply drains too much power from the 360. He explained that the console requires a specific amount of power, especially during startup, and that everything was built to supply the machine with the power it needs. The Intercooler drains a bit of that power right from the start, so the console is now getting less juice. Especially during the startup of the system, explained the rep, this can cause problems as the 360 is trying to supply electricity to all its parts and somewhere along the line won

If Microsoft had cooled the device properly in the first place there would be no need for such add-ons. Shame on them for consistently discouraging the use of third-party software and hardware that fixes the mess they left behind for users. Not being licensed is an incentive, no a deterrant.

I myself own an x-box 360 and never had 1 issue with the console overheating but after hearing a substantial amount of system breakdowns decided it was time to go out and get an intercooler for the sake of the system getting fried… after buying the nyko intercooler for 25.00 at bestbuy found it was a good investment intill i started to packed up my system to go to a friends house and pulled the cord out of my intercooler and noticed the damn thing melted to my system !!!! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY
