99% of our units go over Fireplaces, as have works of art for centuries. In addition to avoid having to watch tv in a picture frame, have control of the tv to tilt for perpendicular viewing, and protection from ceiling reflection which is created by the new viewing angle, check out www.tvcoverups.com

This is perfect, looks great. But the comment above is right.
Heat coming from the fireplace damages plasma tv as chimney is getting hot. Should never take the risk with the real heating fireplace. Even plasma's fan cannot help cooling although Sony XBR has really very powerful fan...

Mmm, I have seen this kind of set-up in a few houses...

The only thing I gotta say here, is that you need to make sure that the heat is directed away from the TV set.. This particular pic looks fine, but I have see one where the TV was (although higher) slightly in-front of the fire.. You can imagine the result..

Just be careful that's all I'm saying...

Take care,

I have found what many have been looking for: a quiet motorized art screen that moves up with the click of a remote control button to allow viewing of a flat screen, flat panel or Plasma TV, and then with another click of the button, the artwork reappears, hiding the television!

This is a really cool idea and I think it would be even more impressive with a plasma TV!
