In a surprising move, Research In Motion today announced that they will start to produce software that will let you run BlackBerry applications on select Windows Mobile 6 devices. The BlackBerry software will run side-by-side with Windows Mobile applications as a dedicated icon on the programs list.
All of the popular BlackBerry applications, including e-mail, phone, text messaging, web browsing, and organizer capabilities are expected to be supported. In addition, devices running the suite will be able to interact with BlackBerry Enterprise and Internet servers, and take advantage of their popular “push” e-mail capability.
No specifics were revealed about which particular Windows Mobile devices will support the BlackBerry Application Suite, but details should emerge later this year.
