I think the LEDs last for something like 50,000 hours so they should last for up to 5 years of continuous use (much longer for typical use). After that, I guess they expect you to buy a new one – or send it in for repair, I suppose.

Looks pretty but the price for this light is very expensive. I will go for the more budget light from this place that I got my E26 bulbs from.

These things are SOOO much brighter than the cheaper ones you can find at ThinkGeek. The Philips ones are well worth the $ if you really want color on your walls.

Not quite as cool or good looking as the Phillips LivingColor, but there are one or two other remote-controlled color changing LED lights out there. For example, ThinkGeek has one for $50: http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/lights/831e/

I’ll be really excited when these become more mainstream. In the same way I wire my house for speakers in different rooms, I want to be able to program and control the lighting. Phillips also sells larger intelligent lighting systems that do this, but I’d assume that they’re expensive judging by the fact that you have to call a sales representative to get a quote.

Keep in mind that these are the European version and require a small plug adapter for US outlets (only costs about $2 bucks extra).

There’s no word on when you’ll be able to buy an actual US/Canada version yet.
