Denmark’s Kilo Design has put together a new in-ear headphone design that not only looks pretty hip, it’s designed to sound good too.

Rather than boring black or white, AiAiAi Swirl Army Earphones come in either a bold orange or military olive color scheme, making them really stand out from the crowd. On top of their unique looks, the AiAiAi earphones are designed to minimize external noise, and provide a full 20 – 20,000Hz frequency response range for excellent sound reproduction. In addition, they feature a super thick, coiled cord design to hold up to just about any abuse you might dish out while the ‘phones are sitting in your backpack or briefcase.

AiAiAi earphones are available for pre-order now from Audiocubes for $75 a pair.

Looks cool, but Koss has a similar earpiece, “The Plug”, for about $15 and it sounds great. As for the coiled cord, why only on one earpiece? It would seem to have more impact on the main cord, where the load would be balanced.

Personally, I can’t stand these little ear pieces. They fit poorly and fall out often. I went with an “earmold” type of headphone from tacticalipod.com The earpiece fits well when I jog, it’s a single headphone that fits in either right or left ear. This way I can listen to my music and still be aware of what’s going on around me. Kinda of a good thing when jogging in the city.
