Bandai Electronic Bubble Wrap Popper
June 24th, 2007
Sometimes, you just can’t resist popping all that bubble wrap that your latest gadget purchase came shipped in. Well now you can feed that compulsion any time, thanks to this new gizmo from Bandai.

The PuchiPuchi (rough translation) is a pocket-sized electronic device that simulates the sound and feel of popping bubble wrap. Yep, you’ll never run out of those little pockets of joy with one of these.

As an added bonus, every so often, it’ll break up the monotony of the popping sound with one of a variety of other goofy sounds, including such classics as “door chime”, “barking dog”, “fart”, and “sexy voice.”
Expect these to hit the streets in Japan this Fall for ¥819 (appx. $7 USD) each. I’m sure some enterprising importer will bring them to the States shortly after.

[Update 6/27/2007: It appears that CScout will be selling these globally for $59 for a pack of 5, starting this September.]

Well, I think it’s a fantastic idea. You know, simple, repetitive, mindless things like popping bubble wrap, petting an animal, doodling, etc., are all proven to significantly lower blood pressure and ease tension and stress. So… good for you bubble wrap popper.
