ipsp: iphone interface for the sony psp

July 8th, 2007 comments (112) stumble it! digg it! by: technabob

Those of you with Sony’s PSP portable gaming system can now install a menu system that looks remarkably similar to the one on Apple’s iPhone.

iPSP

The iPSP software installs onto a Memory Stick and provides ready access to your e-mail, photos, instant messaging, and other applications on the PSP.

The menu is a portal to a variety of web-based applications as well as a couple that run directly on the PSP, like the calculator and PSPTunes media player. There’s a bit more information on all the features here.

From the looks of that video clip, it’s not nearly as elegant as a real iPhone. Regardless, you better grab the download quickly. I’m sure Apple’s legal team won’t let this last long.

Screw Apple’s legal team. If folks are having fun with this, it’s no big deal. This sort of thing does nothing but drum up more demand for their iPhone anyway.

  2. Steve says:

Wonderful! Now can you produce the same thing for the Nokia N800? It runs on Debian Linux and has a touch screen!

  3. The only thing in this entire portal that Apple has copyrights on is about half the icons. The rest of the graphics are made from scratch, with the iPhone as an inspiration.

  4. technabob says:

    Chris, glad to hear that.

You know, those intellectual property lawyers can be a huge pain in the a**. I think that it’s a totally cool piece of work that you’ve done, and I hope Apple does leave you alone.

Just click those broken image links on the downloads page. They actually link to the two installer files at:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?13mcznmb41l (iPSP)

    Good luck!

that would be a great fix for the psp if it did. and you wouldn’t have to load CFW to use youtube. somehow i figure that it’s too good to be true. this ipsp thing is more like a custom theme for ipod enthusiasts. is that about right?
