This add-on for the Nintendo DS not only lets you play MP3 files, but it lets you run tons of homebrew games on the portable console.
Datel’s Games ‘n’ Music plugs into the DS and gives you an easy way to play custom games and apps on the DS and DS Lite. The $30 add-on even comes with a CD loaded with 25 mini-games to get you started. It also bundles a video converter that makes it easy to transfer media clips to your DS too (there’s a bundled USB cable to make transfers painless.) While it only comes with 128MB of storage, it’s expandable up to 2GB thanks to a Micro SD slot.
Available from TotalConsole, the Games ‘n’ Music costs $29.99.

is it possible to run DSLinux on an emulator like No$GBA?
Cuz i have DSlinux but tried to run it on No$GBA emulator and it said The ROM Image has crashed.
AppleX, i am going to pressume that if the RSA lock is a fake, then thats some sort of boot-loader code the card uses (basically the code to datels OS for Gnm), and among that code im gonna also pressume, is what prevents large roms from running. Am i correct or not wire?
Why can’t we just flash the damn thing…

Datel did not make it so it cant play roms it just can’t handle the stress of NDS roms over 4mb. It freezes up because it does not know what to do datel never implemented a rom loader in the games ‘n’ music cartrage basicly it is physicaly inpossible to run commiercial roms on a cartrage with so little on board ram. a regular ds cartrage has 3mb of on board vram the datel games ‘n’ music has only a eighth of that. If you could possibly add more ram.(not likely to much ram can destroy a Nds.) Then it might work. The ds requires you need 2mb more ram than the actual game requires. so if you had a 4mb game you would need 6mb of on board ram to run it. even though the ds already has 4mb it uses the extra for lots of objects and generating the game(launching the game takes up half a mega bite!) so yea try as you will the games n music will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER 100000 more evers run roms. its just not possible. even if there was a loader the games ‘n’ music hardware will still freeze the game. do not try to hack your games ‘n’ music cartrage or end up acsedentaly bricking your ds.

Datel can’t even tell you how to run commiercial roms on the gnm they never implemented a ROM LOADER! R4, m3, ttds, edge, ace, gba mp, mmd, ace2, ace rpg, almost every cartrage exept gnm can run roms. MMD is made by datel but the program for running roms is made by another person with the permition of datel.
Soo sorry..buy a ttds i am getting mine shipped soon! $34!! WOOT! yea but dragon mind is just a flash modder not a cartrage modder.

Wire good choice on the card. Most people usualy want an R4 an they suck now. When you get it check if its fake. if it is return it. If u cant dont update the firmware past 1.15 cause past that it will brick your ttds. thier videos of it bricking on youtube
hows it going guys.. i read a few of the posts n i’ve been wondering about sometthing. if datel can produce a card that has more ram and capabilities to commercial roms then sell it as the same old gnm saying it cant play commercial , do u think that would be able to pass for legal if evry1 shuts up about the gnm playin commercial roms……….I CAN TELL U 1 THING DATEL ALREADY HAS THE RESOURCES THAT ALLOW COMMERCIAL ROMS TO PLAY BUT IF THEY RELEASE IT THEN THEY CAN’T SELL IN STORES ANY MORE WHICH LIMITS THIER PROFITS…LOL MONEY IS ALL THEY KNOW
hey cruroar if datel lies about the gnm being able to play commercial roms that is called false advertising and they could REALLY get sued for that.
aside from that, are you sure there is no way to make the loader jake made work? and if not you guys cant give up on games n music.
one last thing, is leo still working on that web browser, or is that out of the question?

no its not possible to run it using an emulator, it has files in a folder so its not possible sorry : )
o.k, i got dslinux on my games n music and it loaded perfectly and it asked me to login. i typed in root as the username and the password is uClinux . i could only get the u but the caps won’t turn on. if i press the caps, it highlights “a” instead of caps. could some please help me?

That’s what I meant they can do it but nintendo laws stop them from selling it in stores so they add limits to the card and remove parts which in turn stop it from being used right. In basic the GnM is a half-done product. If nintendo allowed others to sell nds flashcarts then datel would release the full version GnM because they’d then be able to sell it in stores and online, doubling their profits.
Hey get this! My cuz works for Datel and said to try to get the max media player loader to work on there, then use the Maximum Overload! I know nothing about coding so I can get a loader running, can someone?

i just thought of something if the dsi has more ram than the original ds and ds lite doesn’t that mean since the reason the GnM couldn’t load commercial roms is ram size that it can on the dsi since it comes with more ram?
if someone that has a GnM happens to import one when they are released they should test it out(if they even work on them.).

did you format the card?
it could just not be compatible or a bad card it happens sometimes.
Kingston micro sd cards work with the GnM i would take it back and get one of them if you don’t get it working.
Yes I formated the card to FAT & FAT32, they both dont work, I emailed datel and they said that the card IS compatable

I was realy sad that gnm cant play ds roms, are you guys sure there is nothing that will work? what if you implant a rom loader from r4 or somthing in gnm and see if it can load roms that way.
I dont really know about hacking so I dont know if its a good idea or not, but is it worth a try?

it’s sad but as is if it was made rom compatible it would be very low compatibility and is no longer in production it has be replace by a combo action replay/ GnM and now cosr about $35! yikes!
it is just cheaper to just buy a flash cart if you know where to look you can get one with 1 gb micro sd for under $20.
even if it’s a cheap r4 clone it freaking works and is way better than a GnM will ever be.

Thnx for the help on firmware find mark. I would,ve uploaded my r4 firmware but its modified so ac:ww cheats work, and it could have messed with the gnm (sounds stupid i know but still…)
