Datel Games ‘n’ Music Homebrew Cart for Nintendo DS

July 27th, 2007 by: Technabob

This add-on for the Nintendo DS not only lets you play MP3 files, but it lets you run tons of homebrew games on the portable console.

datel games music

Datel’s Games ‘n’ Music plugs into the DS and gives you an easy way to play custom games and apps on the DS and DS Lite. The $30 add-on even comes with a CD loaded with 25 mini-games to get you started. It also bundles a video converter that makes it easy to transfer media clips to your DS too (there’s a bundled USB cable to make transfers painless.) While it only comes with 128MB of storage, it’s expandable up to 2GB thanks to a Micro SD slot.

Available from TotalConsole, the Games ‘n’ Music costs $29.99.

Hey, when is the loader going to be done, lostsoul?

  2. person66 says:

wow… is everyone dead or what???, no comments for like a 2 weeks, well except for ThewillMan and mark

  3. mark says:

OK lostsoul it has been three weeks can you give us an update on what is happening with the loader? is it working?

  4. Rom Hacker #2 says:

No offense, but seeing as LostSoul used to be “The Wire” he should have reported back by now. *Meh thinks LostSoul user is hoax*

  5. mark says:

Rom hacker 2 i think you are right, he may just be pulling a prank, because even in the previous comment the real wire says that it was almost impossible to play ds roms, but i still wish someone would try…

  6. The wire says:

I hate it when people impersinate me… Stupid f*cker! Sorry fokes It seems that Lostsoul >_> Is a faker… I have been monitoring this forum for about a year and saw no action until “Lostsoul” Showed up and pretended to be me! I am done with production on the G ‘n’ M so don’t even ask for me to come back.. Cause I won’t.. I have my resons.. The code is just to incompatible with commercial roms.. Even If you totally bypassed the rom block it still wouldn’t work due to the lack of ram. **BUT** Ram isn’t the main problem. Its the actual power of the G ‘n’ M. The games ‘n’ music cartrage is just not powerful enough to support commercial games. There is one main diffirence between R4 and The games ‘n’ music cartrage. I have to go now. Good luck and peece.

I was going to buy a ttds from deal extreme for about $7 and i was wondering if that is too low of price, if it is not a quality card. Also I was going to buy a 4gb micro sd card with it, and I wanted to know if windows xp home edition will read that high of capacity card. Can anyone help me out? Thanks

  8. Rom Hacker #2 says:

Yes, windows will read that high a capacity of card. although i reccomend getting a R4DS and a 4gb micro sd.

    Hope this helped.

  9. mark says:

Rom hacker #2 I looked at r4ds and there are diffrent versions like r4 ultra, r4 III,r4 deluxe, and r4 revolution. Are all of these diffrent? I also heard that the real r4 is no longer in production, so are all of those ones just a knock off versions? Out of all those which one is the best? I just want a card that can back up my ds games and that can support action replay and SDHC.Lastly what is so much better about an r4 than a ttds?

  10. Rom Hacker #2 says:

heres thr r4 i own: R4: Revolution for DS/DSL. if you do get a r4. watch out, some are fake. the fake ones usually have built in memory and a SRAM backed by a battery, but there are fake versions with the microSD slot. As far as i know the latest r4 kernel would brick a fake r4, i may be wrong as i read that info long time ago. also the r4 has built in action replay (cheat.DAT) and has the function for you to create your own cheats database incase the main one dont have the cheats you was looking for. but that requires a application (USRCHEAT.dat)

Hope i helped. :) Have a nice day mark :D

  11. Javier says:

sorry for not posting in a while

  12. Javier says:

i heard that they arent going to make any more firmware updates for the r4ds,is this true?
i am thinking about getting 1 to play pokemon platinum.

    • r4 dsi says:

yes they released a new candidate r4i cards recently which supports DSi and r4 cards no more supports DSi so sadly we wont find any updates on r4 cards from now on.

  13. joeydots says:

on september 5, 2008, wire talked about cracking the vram port. no offense to wire, but I am not smart enough to make that work on my own, so I was wondering if anyone else, or wire, had any more to say about using that in palib instead of just devkitpro. thanks.

  17. Rom Hacker #2 says:

Thank you. Im sure if there is a way to hack GnM we would have found it by now, but we havent so…..people…stop posting “OMG I DID IT!” without posting proof, etc…OR you will be ignored.

  18. Mark says:

Well I finally got smart and got an acekard 2 from deal extreme for ONLY $11.30!!! I have a 2gb micro sd and it can hold over 30 ds games plus snes, nes, sega, and gameboy color! Its great and you cant go wrong. The only bad side is bad build quality, but other than that.. ITS GREAT!! get one

  19. Mark says:

catamer, just out of curiosity, what version of max overload did you use? Also did you have to patch it with dldi patcher?

  20. Rom Hacker #2 says:

Yeah, that just popped into my mind, what version did you use and was it DLDI patched? – Now mark if he is telling the truth he should get back to us with some answers and maybey some proof, if not we got another fake on our hands :/

  23. Mark says:

When i tried max overload version 1.6 all i got was: “Error no driver found” now what do i do catamer? I didnt dldi patch it either just like you said!

  24. Rom Hacker #2 says:

Hmmm, Mark…tried dldi patching just to see perhaps? if that fails, either someones lying or you did it wrong :P

  25. Homebrew master 1 says:

Ok well I have a GnM and it cant play like u all said but there are programs to shrink or compact files yet still play them. I had at least 30 or so homebrews then i could not fit more. I then downloaded the game Touch of War (which is great) and it did not fit. so i shrunk it and it worked so maybe this will to.

  26. Rom Hacker #2 says:

Intresting, well my GnM is of no use now as i used it for a test purpose in previous posts, so i cant confirm this, im sure it wont work tho but if possible, video proof? Thnx

  27. Homebrew master says:

Hey I bought a new sd card GnM. None of the games work, i need advice.

But on the bright side i mysef am creating a new version of the gb color game Quarth. its sick!

  28. Homebrew master says:

Oh by the way, my website that will be ready by august will have these games. plus others like touch of war, starlight v.003, meteora evolution and more ill wright it here when its done.

  29. Rom Hacker #2 says:

Awsome, looking forward to seeing it.

  30. Dave says:

    photoshopped.

totally obvious. look at those pixels. i’ve seen lots of ‘chops in my time, and this is one of them.

  31. Rom Hacker #2 says:

Well if ur seeing images, i aint….wierd

  32. Mark says:

what are you talking about with pixles. I see no images. ???

  33. Rom Hacker #2 says:

Yeah thanks mark, i thought my internet was bugged or something, i cant see no images…..WHERE R THEY lol.

  34. jesk says:

  35. exportsupermart says:

  36. cartes r4 says:

    cartes r4

  37. WaterMelonOfTheSea says:

you all do realise all of the post claming to have commercial roms loading on a GnM are just trolls.
you can get a DSTT from GamebyGame for $15 shipped for free in the US same with the DSi compatible dstti for only $6 more heck even a Acekard 2i and or EZVi are only 23/24 bucks, a GnM now cost $35 and has been redesigned to be a action replay too which most if not all flash carts come with a built in cheat engine.
also DSi player is shit since it casn’t play commercial roms either just like the GnM but more expensive only difference is it has better video playback no need to convert the files to .dpg like other carts.
you want games and a good all around starter cart for games music and movies then get the DSTT/DSTTi put moonshell on it with ysmenu loader and your set.
you want just movies then the dsiplayer is a decent choice but note the latest dsi firmware blocks it so it’s only really dsl/ds phat compatible now.

  38. Jeffrey says:

OK, first of all, don’t be an idiot. The Games’n Music sucks balls. It can only play homebrew, music and video, that’s it. It doesn’t even have auto DLDI patching. To top it off, it’s 30 DOLLARS! Like, wtf? You could go to deal extreme, get a DSTT(i)or Acekard 2.1/i plus a 2GB micro sd card with a reader for about half the price! These cards can play homebrew, official games, and music/video through moonshell. You also don’t need to DLDI patch, it’s built in. It also has a built in cheat thingy (action replay). Oh, and by the way, don’t get the R4. They’re all fake now (the original company got sued), no updates for them (no new games), and it’s now one of the worst cards on the market. You could get a DSTT for half the price of an R4 clone. So… DON’T BE AN IDIOT!!!

  39. ebuddy says:

if you wanna buy some cool gadgets such as nintendo wii accessories at a low price you may need to go to http://www.ebuddybase.com

It has a large collection of R4, DSTT, Acekard and other NDS carts and you can also find a lot of stuffs there.
