46-inch 1080p sceptre hdtv on sale for $1299

While Sceptre isn’t necessarily as well known as brands like Sony and Samsung, they do actually make pretty decent HDTVs. That said, if you’re looking for an bargain-priced way to break into the high-def big screen world, check out this limited time deal from Costco.

The Sceptre 46-inch 1080p widescreen LCD set is now on sale for just $1299.99 (after a $300 rebate.) The set offers full 1920 x 1080 native pixel resolution and supports true 1080p input signals. Contrast ratio is a solid 8,000 to 1, which is pretty good as LCDs go.
I also like that they didn’t skimp on inputs, even though the price is low. Sceptre includes 3 HDMI ports, as well as 2 Component and 2 Composite/S-video inputs too. There’s also a VGA input for hooking up a PC. The set also offers four built-in speakers, and SRS TruSurround XT audio enhancement.
This special offer is only valid through August 12, 2007, so if you’re interested in taking advantage of it, hop on over to the Costco website now.

Radical. definitely below the 46in LCD Price Trend (by PriceFad.com)
Also, that trend you mentioned certainly includes some lower resolution sets. $1299 for a 46-inch 1080p resolution set is way below average.
CAN THE BULB BE REPLACED SINCE IT IS THE MOST
IMPORTANT COMPONET OF THE UNIT.
PLEASE ADVISE.

You usually can’t change the backlights on LCD panels (only on projectors), so I doubt this one is user serviceable. SCEPTRE’s LCD backlights are rated at 50,000 hours though, so that would give you over 15 years of viewing if you watched TV for 8 hours every day. That’s more than enough for most people.
Earlier there was rumors of this set having a Faroudja mage remapper. This is the best chip of its kind, and would make for an awesome looking picture when lower res content is viewed ( which is still predominant).
Anyone has further info on this?
I have bought two of these… One two years ago and I was so impressed wikth it that when it came time to by another I didnt even look at other brands. Unless you buy top of the line Sony you won’t find a better picture in my book.
