We had these in Japan for years. They are great! There is also an under-carpet warmer that recirculates a dense oil through a room kerosene heater. You can’t get any toastier!

Why am I raving? These heaters re-orient your living room/family room as a real hearth space – lie on the floor and zone out on the telly. You will nod out: I guarantee – and you will feel like a human being.

The Japanese don’t heat the whole house. Instead, you have one toasty room where everyone hangs out – and a DEEP tub full of hot water in the bathroom where you relax and soak up heat (AFTER washing off, so others can use the tub). That’s how you get through the winter.

American civilization will be an oxymoron until we get real tubs – and I don’t mean these pathetic “hot tubs” that don’t go above x degrees.

We have a product that heats under carpet, tile, laminate floors and wood floors. We have been doing this in USA for many years. So it is possible to have heat under your feet here in the good old USA. Go to http://www.calorique.com to take a look.
