Electronic Arts has started to circulate a list of 30 tracks that are currently on the playlist for their upcoming multiplayer music game Rock Band. The list includes a number of classic rock tracks, but also offers up some great alternative and more edgy tunes. There are likely to be a few more tracks announced closer to the game’s release.

I’m totally stoked that EA didn’t decide to load the game up with a bunch of crappy metal acts. Most of the songs are from the original master recordings, while just a handful are remade cover versions. Personally, I’m most excited by the presence of tunes from the likes of Radiohead, The Strokes, The Hives, The Pixies and Foo Fighters. Although I could do without the cover version of a Rush song that I already can’t stand.

Rock Band is expected to hit stores on November 20th for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. A PS2 version is also planned for release in the Spring of 2008.

  2. $hawn says:

Alot of the songs on this game are off the hook.
I can’t wait for this bad boy to come out.
I am so getting the drum version but I love the guitar to, hmmm, which one????
    Boo Yah, Rock Band Rules!

  3. Dragon Mystrez says:

lol I have this reserved. When it comes out I get one. Costs about 200 for the entire thing sept it doesnt come with the second guitar for bass.

  4. jones says:

    The Hives?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! MY BRAIN EXPLODED!!!!!!

  5. Keishii says:

yea i cant wait for this game
but i cant help notice how u said that u disliked rush
it suks its a cover yea, but its still a great song
other than that all the songs are awesome

  6. lol o.o lol says:

    OMG i hate the Hives…

  7. 3p!K says:

WOW the song list sucks… it needs some metal ‘guitar hero 3′ has a better song list!!!

  8. andrew says:

ok first off how are they gonna have originals of some f*g groups like the hives and stuff and not have an original of paranoid this game just lost soooo much respect i dont even think it is even worth wasting spit to spit on the stupid creaters of this game … get your sh*t together dont put real songs that are real gay put real songs that are badass not like some of the gay sh*t on there …

  9. XxNiGHTSxX says:

i had so much high hopes for this game…….omg what like 2 songs are okay…..wow….ill stick with guitar hero 3 i get my trivium and soilwork and probably something better good work rock band making a game thats wicked expensive with shitty songs….wow…..talk about getting raped for ur money

  10. New Kid says:

The problems with these comments are that you’re forgetting that Rock Band also has vocals, so songs that wouldn’t necessarily work on Guitar Hero because the guitar isn’t fun enough would be decent because of the vocals and drums.

A couple that i was dissapointed were missing, though, are No Led Zeppelin
    No Ozzy Singles
    No AC/DC
    No Van Halen
    No Queen

I like the fact that theres some stuff by OkGo and foo Fighters up there, but they should have gone with the more popular bands instead of lesser bands. My friends hadn’t even heard of most of these.

  11. Lalalala says:

Rock Band is gonna be so much better than Guitar Hero 3… I’ve been waiting for a game like this for so long! I mean, singing, drumming, guitar ALL TOGETHER! i’m trading in my wii and getting an xbox 360 basically for this game!!!

  12. Ur Grammer iz bad says:

First of all, think out your posts before you make them. The grammar and spelling is so terrible it is almost impossible to read.

Secondly, if I am deciphering the terrible posts correctly, some are complaining about covers of Rush and Sabbath. The ONLY songs that are going to be on this game as covers are those for which the master recordings have been lost to time. Translation for the illiterate: Sabbath and other “cover songs” appear as a cover because the original recordings have deteriorated. Hardly Harmonix fault.

  13. aaron says:

they are just copying guitar hero, and their songs f**king suck. THE RAMONES ARE GAY!

  14. Bob says:

It needs songs that arent on guitar hero 3!

  15. yeah there are too many songs from GH3.

  16. marked1234 says:

I agree less songs that are in Guitar Hero 3 but I still think that it is a pretty good playlist. Listen to both of the playlist here too.

    RockBand
    Guitar Hero 3

  17. chik says:

Man some of you just really need to calm down….it is just a game. The creators of this game i give cudos to and the playlist isnt all that bad. If they were to add more metal songs how many of us would enjoy singing slayer?…not many.

  18. Toulouse says:

The downloadable content library for RB is getting to be impressive… with more songs available as DLC than are included in the original game, you can pretty much customize things to your own musical taste (although the extra bill for all those tracks can add up quickly).
