This kind of light is very practical, but hardly new.

The "original" (as in, it has been around for a long time and is the earliest one I know about) 9-volt snap-on LED light is the Pak-Lite (http://www.9voltlight.com/). These are very well constructed--they are water resistant and have a three-position switch (with high and low on states).

I also have a 9-volt snap-on 6 LED light from Japan (some unknown Japanese brand) that has a pushbutton switch and a swivel head, so you can stand it up on its end and direct the light at an angle.

Remember that fun little battery lamp from Suck UK? Here’s kind of the same idea, but using a 9-volt battery to create a flashlight.
