police cars to get bunny rabbit strobe lights

The police department in Osaka, Japan is about to get a whole lot wackier. Apparently, they’ve ordered these goofy rabbit-shaped lights for about 800 of their cars.

The bunny strobe lights are designed for use on vehicles patrolling the neighborhoods around schools, presumably so the kids can point and laugh at the cops.
I’m guessing that somebody was listening to that Radiohead song Rabbit in Your Headlights and misunderstood the translation.

ahhahahaha!
They are not for the Police, it is actually for the neighborhood “safety patrol”. This is a special car which operates to make sure kids get to and from school safely (like USA has crossing guards). Of course they want high visibilty, and not scary for the kids.
The sign on the van says “safety patrol” in Kanji. The safety patrol is administered by the police bureau, but the staff are just civilians. It’s not intended for Police squad cars, so your page title is incorrect.
This is so cute!
