Wow, time flies when you’re having fun. Can you believe that it’s been five years since the Xbox LIVE online service got its start?

It seems like only yesterday, but on November 15, 2002, Microsoft’s groundbreaking online gaming platform made its debut as an add-on to the original Xbox. Five years later, it’s still leaps and bounds beyond the other onling gaming platforms, with easy downloads of add-on content, always on chat, a unified friends list, and a robust online movie store.
In celebration of the big day, Xbox LIVE is throwing an Live is 5IVE online party on November 15th and 16th, including chances to win prizes, play against game developers, get your ass handed to you by some serious gamer girls, and much more.
Congratulations to the Xbox LIVE team for hitting this important milestone. You’ve stolen countless hours of my life that I can never get back. Thanks for the memories.

Xbox is teaming up with new site Woozyfly.com–giving away free xbox games yo.
I can’t believe it’s been five years and Sony still hasn’t done a good job of replicating Xbox Live. While they would probably get criticized for copying Microsoft, I think if it’s something consumers really want you should give it to them. I can’t stand having to create separate logins for some games, I just really hate that. Xbox Live is such a streamlined service that I don’t mind the $50/year fee and I’m not exactly rolling in greenbacks either.
And I’m not interested in the PS3 Second Life-clone, PS3 Home.
