This simple, clever mug automatically indicates its current state of mind when you pour a hot beverage into it.
In its dormant state, the mug offers a black “OFF” display, but once your hot coffee or tea hits the inside, it gradually transforms to read “ON”. A heat sensitive pigment changes the color of the mug from black to white.

I quite like the idea and agree with Coqui that the cup should display HOT and COLD instead.
I also think that the price is a bit steep, if it was lower I may be tempted to get one of these.

This mug “looks really fun” on the ad but I got one from my hubby for Christmas and it is not all it’s cracked up to be! First, the cup NEVER turned all white except for the letters when it was hot. The worst part is that someone, maybe me, put it in the dishwasher and yes (it can happen) the black PLASTIC film, melted leaving it useless as far as I am concerned.
That was $20 plus shipping down the drain and I am rather ticked at the moment! This idea is all good on paper (not even on the cup) but not worth the money AT ALL! I guess if I did it, and I don’t know because I have been sick these past few days, and don’t remember, I figured maybe it was ok to put it in the top shelf of the dishwasher since the microwave didn’t hurt it. Oh well, lesson learned. Just use my normal stuff and stop trying to amuse myself with wastful (not needful) things
Hmmm. I’ve had mine for almost 5 years now with no problem at all – but I’ve never microwaved or dishwashed it – only put hot coffee or tea in it, and handwashed it.
