January 2nd, 2008 by: Technabob

This new digital weather forecaster from Oregon Scientific offers retro-future styling that make it look like something out of 2001: A Space Odyssey.

With it’s curvy egg-shaped design, modern typography and bold icons, it’s a definite nod to 1960s space-age futurism. The BAR210 Weather Forecaster offers easy-to-read amber numbers, which toggle easily between time and temperature readings with a wave of your hand.

Colorful weather forecast icons light up to indicate sun, rain or clouds, and it can display either indoor or outdoor temperatures thanks to an included wireless temperature sensor. Time is automatically set using a remote atomic clock, so you can be sure it’ll be accurate.

You can find the BAR210 forecaster from Ambient Weather for $47.95.

This look simple and without a lot of complicated functions compared to other products available. The question is, is this necessary?

I could have my Vista with weather forecast side bar that have quite similar functions. I wonder who’s their target consumers.
