ifone is one phony iphone

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. But sometimes, a crummy copy is just a crummy copy. Take for example, this poor Taiwanese knock-off of the Apple iPhone. This thing makes no bones about its source of inspiration. Heck, they couldn’t even come up with an original name and just called it the iFone.

iFone - iPhone Knock-Off

This wannabe version of the iPhone copies the basic case design of Apple’s beauty, but certainly falls short on the details. For starters, there’s no glass face or durable aluminum back here. We’re talking cheap plastic and shiny chrome plate. Plus, it looks like it’s about twice as thick as the real iPhone.

iFone - iPhone Knock-Off

Under the hood, you won’t do too much better. It’s pretty much your run-of-the-mill MP3/MP4 player phone, with just 256MB of on-board memory (although you can expand storage up to 2GB with an SD card). Of course, the touchscreen isn’t multi-touch, and needs a stylus to function properly. On the other hand, the bargain basement iFone does offer video recording capability with its 2-megapixel camera – something Apple hasn’t yet added to the iPhone. It’s also not locked to to a single carrier. The phone supports all GSM/GPRS networks, has SMS and WAP capabilities, but no real HTML web browser. At least they did manage to include Bluetooth connectivity inside the iFone’s bulky shell.

But let’s get real here. If you really want an iPhone, save your money and buy a real one. The only reason you’d even think about buying one of these is if you’re a real cheapskate, and you don’t mind looking like one. If you’re still convinced that you must have one, the iFone is available for $165 from DealExtreme (including free shipping).

ifone is very good phone easy 2 use .

  2. webJunKiez says:

I own one. It’s easy to use. It’s not an iphone but why would I be as stupid as to pay 500-1000 for one when their just going to come up with something new. A few years from now iphone will be like cdplayers. Who has one anymore?

  3. technabob says:

Given the fact that you can get a real iPhone for $199 now, it seems ludicrous to spend $165 on one of these.

    • Tom says:

Where can you get one for $199? I will be there.
I agree the iFone seems like a cheap knock off of the proper iPhone. I have a bid on Trademe for one of these, but will be having it withdrawn as the seller has mis-advertised it.

  4. Kevy D says:

technabob, the reason would be because for $199 you get tied into an 18 month contract rather than just a sim-free phone you tard. Learn the facts before you try to look clever.

    • jasy says:

i have an ifone(y) and an iphone…..so ifone has everithing an ordinary phone has…only it has a big touch screen so its a fake expensive phone, iphone has much more easy to use option so its worth buying ..if you want to have some cool gadget, cause for talking you can use any phone out there

      • Kawana says:

Hi I have this phone and it’s ok. yeah sometimes it sticks where you have to use the stylist. but over all its fine i have t-mobile and it excepted my sim card and my carrier set up the internet and picture messg. with no problem yeah i could have bought another phone but this one does the same dial, talk, and text with out accepting ATT bullcrap service on a two year contract. even people that work for ATT say the real IPhone is not all that.

    • technabob says:

So here’s the thing. You might have to get tied into a contract with AT&T for 2 years if you buy an iPhone, but you’ll end up with a similar monthly rate no matter WHO you have phone service with. Sure, you might not feel like you’re tied down to one provider, but they all really have their problems anyway don’t they?

And while you can now get the iFone for just $110, there’s no App Store, no GPS, and no 3G connection on it. You’ll still have to pay T-mobile or Sprint or whoever for your usage, so it’s not that much less money for a phone that is clearly 2nd rate.

  5. technabob says:

Tard? Hmmm. Are we on the kindergarten playground here?

  6. faye says:

i own one, and i don’t care if it’s not the real iphone.

  7. mandaa says:

    its alright so far
the textin thing i dont like

  8. Gary G says:

I have one, I like it so far but you cant do the turn it to the side thing which makes the keyboard so small that you have to use the stylus. Also I have ATT but they have been less than helpful in helping me set up the internet. Anyone know the code?

  9. kuttin up says:

I bid on a crappy wanna b! Didn’t know what I was gettin myself into! I hate it n I’m sendin dis crap back! Do urself a favor n just get the original phones u want! Don’t b a cheapskate! Just save ur money n use what u got all we need to do is talk on sumthin or text! Save until u can get the phone u really want!

  10. ajack19 says:

i hate this phony phone it is a rip off i will just wait till my upgrade, until than can sumone tell me how 2 get the internet! Im just going 2 have 2 call this one a lost!DONT BUY ANYTHING THAT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE!!!!!!:(

  11. sayoo says:

I just get one of this ifone and I’m enjoying using it.Did anyone know how to configured the phone, and also send pictures to the internet?

  12. Angela Nicholson says:

I have bught one – because it supports 2 different sims and networks!! great for me when half the family are on oranga and half on O2.
I like it and although I wanted an iphone – this fulfills my needs, albeit without fancy gadgets!!
my only problem is that I seem to have missed a trick when trying to set up the browser!! any hints out there?

  13. Tanya says:

I have this ifone, I think it is cool. As a matter of fact, I think it is great. At the rate of this economy; why pay 500.00 for a phone and turn around and have to pawn it to get 1/8 of the money you spent. Touchscreen, internet, text, and talk is all that any of them will honestly give you. Once you start getting into all of that other stuff that comes with the expensive phone, you have to turn around and get an expensive plan to support it….(hint) Furthermore, everyone that i know who had the apple Iphone stated that had the same sticky keys as well. So to each its own…but don’t hate.

  14. Justin says:

I think this phone would be great if I could figure how to make jailbreak or a simular program work on it.

  15. Tonya says:

omg i have this knock off and it really sucks haha but a “fone” is a phone lmao(:

  16. Stevi says:

ok, my mom is a principal and she took an ifone away from a kid. this kids parents never came to pick it up so we bought a charger and i put my t-mobile sim into it. iagree wih everyone that says that this phone has th basics, it doesn’t have any of the special thing on it like the real iphone does. so if you are looking for the cool apps or the easy internet, then don’t buy an ifone get the real deal.

  17. Nisey says:

I am looking for an ifone clone charger. Please someone tell me where I can purchase it at. My phone is dead and I can not find a charger for it anywhere.

  18. J0sie says:

i have one of these nd i really like it.i havent had any problems with it nd yea the keyborad is small but i use my finger nail tips i dont use the pen and everyone tells me its better than the real one idk but i like this one

  19. Sam says:

How do i download java to Sci-P i9 and will i then be able to dwnlod Apps, games and E-books

  20. thommas says:

man my phone is real nice and people always offer money for my mines because theres nothing out there like it is the BOMB……

  21. Mr. Weiner says:

This “fone” is a ripoff! Don’t buy it!

  22. Tanya says:

Yes u can go to ebay and by a charger for the clone, it only runs about 7 dollars but it will take about a full 2 weeks (10-14 dys to receive it) it comes all the way from hong kong and it gets held up in customs for about 5 days thats the biggest reason for the delay. But take the cover off get the number off the battery and put that in the search engine on ebay and you will get several hits the batteries are only like 3 dollars so if you get the charger that has the attachment on it where it can charge your phone and an extra battery at the same time, that will prevent you from being stuck having to high jack some ones plug. Oh yeah, i ended up buying 2 chargers so that in case one tears up like the original one did, i wouldnt be stuck not being able to use my phone for two weeks like i was the first time. Good Luck!! But i did end up selling my phone, and switching to Verizon Wireless. I want all of those people following me everywhere i go. LLMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
