Contest Rules
To enter the contest, simply leave a comment at the end of this article, telling us your fondest Nintendo-related memory (in 150 words or less). Share any Nintendo story you’d like, but we’ll be awarding the prizes to the ones we think are the most creative, entertaining, outlandish, sentimental, humorous or just downright enjoyable.
To get your creative juices flowing, Chris has contributed this story which best describes his fondness for the “Big N”:
From the time I first picked up an NES controller, to now where I have to force myself to put the Wii controller down, there have been a lot of great Nintendo memories to choose from.
Most important to me is the game that took my fondness for video games and turned it into a passion; Ocarina of Time.
There isn’t really a singular moment I recall best, I just remember the feeling I got when playing through it the first time. I could sit on my family room floor and play for hours, happy to simply ride around the fields of Hyrule. For me, that was the game that made me realize I wanted video games to be a part of my life for years to come.
All entries must be received prior to 11:59pm Central Time on Monday, March 31, 2008 to be eligible. You must post using a valid e-mail address, and only one entry will be accepted per e-mail account. Winners will be selected by Technabob editorial staff and the artist to determine one Grand Prize winner and five Runners Up. We reserve the right to delete inappropriate comments and comment spam.

I loved the Legend of Zelda: A Link to the past which was played from the perspective of being above the game. It was on SNES and is the only videogame I have ever played from start to finish and fully completed. I was obsessed with this game and felt really challenged. Shortly after that, videogames went 3d and that makes me nauseous so I had to stop playing them. But I have such fond memories of this game. It was a family event to watch the game play and I remember my husband would call me from work to see what new things I had accomplished that day in the game. It’s all rather silly but at the time it was the highlight of my days.
When my brother and I were young, we didn’t get to spend too much time with our dad, but when he got the nintendo, he set about playing Mario Bros all the way through, and unlocking all the hidden stuff. Even though he wasn’t really spending time with us, is was nice to have him the the same place for hours and hours.
Thats my fondest nintendo memory.
Thank you so much.
My youngest son is so obsessd with Mario & Luigi. They are favorites to all of my kids. I have had to make homemade costumes, not for Halloween, but just for everyday. Any time he has to make up a name, for a story, or to play a video game, computer game, name a pet…the name is ALWAYS Luigi. He could spell that before he could even spell his own name.
when i was younger i got hooked on zelda and still love the one from the super nintendo days, i also was hooked to mario games, now i enjoy watchin my son get hooked on them !!
The fondest memories are sitting in our den and playing the first Nintendo games of the early 80’s with family especially when times financially were very tight. Nintendo has given us time as a family unit; bonding to daughter time; and most af all fun with entertainment and developmental eye/hand coordination with a your seven year old who came into my life when I married her father. Many Thanks,
My favorite Nintendo-related memory is playing anyone of the Super Mario Games on the original Nintendo or Super Nintendo. I would play them with other family members and we would always have such a good time playing them and couldn’t wait to beat them. We would always refer to my sister as the princess character and she couldn’t wait to rescue the princess. The Super Mario Games were so much fun that we have some of them downloaded on our computers now. I just will never forget playing those games when I was a kid with my dad, brother, and sister and eventually beating them. It made my day back then and I will remember those happier times forever.
My fondest Nintendo memory is playing Super Mario Bros. with my mom as a kid. I could never get past that first Goomba, so I’d always run and get my mom to do it for me. She never complained and would always help me out.
Now that my own daughter is playing Mario Party on our Wii, I hope that she has these kinds of great memories as she gets older.
My most fondest memory of Nintendo was myself at five years old, playing Super Mario Brothers 3 at my grandparent’s house. I was so into that game, that hours would pass by, trying to get to the new worlds, or, at least get the three whistles so I could get to my favorite world: the “giant world”. It took me until a few months ago to finally beat it. Back then, I didn’t understand about all the powerups, and I didn’t really care. I didn’t even know what the monsters were supposed to be. I just enjoyed playing, and seeing what Mario and myself could do as a team. I got caught a few times sneaking out of bed in the middle of the night, leaving the nintendo on a few hours before so I could get further in my game. I tried playing other games as well, things like Zelda, and a few others that didn’t spark my imagination and interest like SMB3 and the original. There was always someplace I haven’t found. It seemed to never have an end, and that’s what intruiged me so much. Everytime I hear the theme music, it reminds me of those past times, not having a care in the world, and being with my grandparents. In a sense, I owe it to Nintendo for those fond memories.
Thanks for all the great memories!
