Google’s Android platform might be designed for mobile devices, but that didn’t stop this guy from making an Android-inspired desktop computer.

Built by software engineer (and self-proclaimed geek) Eric Burke, the Android PC is inspired by the green ‘droid head on the Android logo. Complete with beady little eyes and a pair of rubbery antennae, the iconic dome design is crafted from sturdy steel hemisphere.

Under the hood, the Android PC is powered by a VIA NanoBGA C7 processor running on a Mini-ITX mobo, and comes with Ubuntu Linux pre-installed.

If you want to get your hands on this one-of-a-kind system, you’d better head on over to eBay right away and get your bids in before the auction ends later today.

Although I’m a little nublet and I have no idea what I’m talking about, I wonder how long it would be when the linux-based Android actually gets ported to PCs. :P I’d love to run a Google OS on a desktop. XD

I think Android would be a great fit for the Internet tablet market. Perhaps a 8-1/2 by 11 inch touch screen that can be carried around the house, surfing the net via wi-fi. It could also be propped up on a table with a keyboard and mouse. Perhaps VMware can get Fusion running on Android for Windows usage… who knows. This is an attractive idea.
