Eneplug USB Charger Plug is Simple, Brilliant

Why is it that Japan gets so many of the coolest gadgets long before we get them here in the states? While these compact USB chargers aren’t going to blow your mind, I certainly would like to get my hands on a few to throw into my travel bag.

Greenhouse Eneplug USB Charger

The Greenhouse Eneplug may look like the decapitated end of a standard 110v AC plug, but instead of a power cord, there’s a USB jack. Simply plug in your rechargeable portable gadgets, and you’ll be charging them in no time. They come in a variety of colors and can handle any device that charges at the standard USB power level of 5VDC at 0.6A.

At this point, the Eneplug is available only in Japan, and priced at ¥980 (appx. $10 USD).

That kind of charger have been commonly available in Europe for years now. I got one for my IPAQ about 3 year ago and still use it every today. It even has changable plug pins so it works both with the broken US plugs and the EU/Asia plugs.

Really? I’ve been reporting on USB gadgets for a while now and never seen anything like this. Nice find ‘Bob’

Kim – point us in the direction of a US version???

  3. Not sure if that’s gonna work as advertised since USB only put’s out a very small amount of voltage and current.
