Nope, your eyes aren’t fooling you. This isn’t an actual iPhone. It’s the latest in a long line of iPhone knock-offs to find its way to our shores from China. The SciPhone isn’t the first iPhone clone out there, but it’s the first one I’ve seen that claims to run native Java applications.
The case design and the on-screen icons of the DigitalRise Sci-Phone D990i definitely look quite a bit like a legitimate iPhone, but upon closer look, you’re likely to be able to tell the difference (gotta love that floppy disk icon for documents). The iFake even tries to outdo the original by offering something called “shake control”, which lets you shuffle through songs by simply shaking the phone.
The Sci-Phone D990i features a 3.2-inch color touchscreen (some of the docs say 3.5-inch, so I don’t know which is accurate) , a 1.3-megapixel digital camera, and offers Bluetooth support. Since it’s an unlocked quad-band phone, it’ll work on any GSM-based network, and uses GPRS for data services (sorry no Wi-Fi or 3G ).
With the new iPhone 3G hitting stores next week for just $199, and Sun working on Java support for the real iPhone, you’d be hard pressed to come up with a reason to drop over $200 on this complete fake. The only reason I can think of is if you’re not an AT&T customer and want people to think you have an iPhone. Frankly, you’d be better off picking up an iPod Touch and pretending to speak into it.

how do i download mms if i have the sci phone with att sim in it
Same idea as this. You just have to find the settings and profiles they are talking about on this phone, but the settings are the same and work well.

when you plug in your phone, a screen should come up on your phone. click on mass storage and it should have your computer recognize it

Hello, Sorry to hear you cant connect your iphone.I had this trouble after 2 weeks of owning the phone. It was connecting fine, then I notice the cable had a short in it. I would move it around, it would say connected then removed..You may have a bad usb cable..I would like to add you will pull your hair out when you find out you cant scroll down all your games..Mine loggs off after scrolling 5 games. Also music file sucks. You have to listen to your music in the order it was copyed or hand pick them..I wish i never bought this phone its a sci-phone i68+. there are serval places you can get free games. Just email me back and i will show you where to get them.. Good luck.

i think the fault lies with your usb cable
works on mine vista premium older version maybe not…. got phone working or you need to turn the sim card around ”not over” least for ATT you do
check your usb cable that came with the phone.I had the same problem..the usb cable came with the phone is low grade.gives trouble

I have a sciphone i68+ with T-Mobile. I hit 3# then voice mail number comes up. Then I hit dial. 3 presses and I get Vmail. To block your number dial *67 before you dial number. To unblock dial *82 before you dial number. That’s it. PEACE.

you can go to this website http://home.comcast.net and type in sciphone review and it has a link there to TMobile to set up mms and internet. I used it and it was easy and works perfect.

Hello, This phone dont have this feature.Also the phone play your music in the order it was copyed. It relly sucks. I had a Philips go gear.and sold it to buy the sci=phonei68+, I wished i never done that..the phone has very poor vedio play back. very poor camra, the radio wont pick no channels, also when you scroll your games you load into java it will logg off to start menu.i have 50 games there but can access only five. If anyone is decding to buy this phone please go another route. It isnt worth the trouble you will endure..PLEASE DONT BUY THIS PHONE..Also i find a bad usb connection disconneting me from my computer..worst investment i ever made..Good luck!!!!

I just bought this mobile, and the first time i see it i was vary impressed. i use the O2 network, and likewise went to use an O2 Sim card. the problem is my O2 Sim isn’t recognized ! i know my simm ’s ok as i use it in my Nokia N95.
try putting it in the opposite of what the pic seems to say…that is put it in the top slide with the contacts facing down. (I have 2 card variety and was having same prob.)

This is a commond question.You will find information on a unresponsive or slow phone on the back cover. How ever all phones dont have this fature so this may not work. The phone needs to be calibrated to respond correct again..let me let every one know dont try to take this phone apart or you wont have touch screen again..ALSO DO NOT RESET THE FACTORY SETTINGS.EVERY ONE THAT DOES THIS HAS AN UNRESPONSIVE PHONE.AND THERES NO HELP THAT I HAVE SEEN TO RECOVER THE PHONE!!!!!

My buddy bought a SciPhone off of eBay! It was no accident. He wanted to buy an iPhone, but didn’t want to leave his current cell-phone service for AT&T. So he bought the SciPhone, which I believe comes unlocked. He took it to BestBuy. It really is a great phone, it just isn’t an iPhone.

Email me and i will show you how to get games and apps..Let me mention That all games wont work on the sci-phone because most game are created for phones with keypad and not touch screen.I did find about 100 games and apps.I had to go thru trail and err on them. I had the same problem. I returned the phone and got the newer version of sciphone from ameristyles. The phone you have might be the same way my old phone was in that it only reads 2g cards not 3g for a 2g network.
Im confused. I really want the SciPhone but everyones saying its crap, is it crap or is that just them?

I bought this phone off ebay, it worked 5mins then didn’t work at all, contacted seller who sent me connector to charge that was no use in the uk, asked for money back took about 6wks to get it back after opening a dispute, picture quality crap, if i had listened to folk on this site before i would’ve never of wasted the money… save the extra and buy an iphone,

think about the 2 years contract with the phone company,if you want an iphone, plus the requirement of internet service. so, it’s cheaper with the sciphone, there is no contract!
Because an Iphone in Hungary costs 576$! And this expensive phone has only 1.3 megapixel camera, and only 1 GB microsd, and i cannot do video with it, and it has only 860 battery. So i bought my Sciphone i9 for only 100$, and it is better than an Iphone!

Just bought the sci phone. It has great reception and works with my att sim card. Takes fine pictures. I cant figure out how to download music though. Computer recognizes the memory from phone. Texting takes some getting used to.
convert all your music files to mp3 using switch sound file converter (free) then send the converted file to your mp3 folder in your micro sd card

Iphones being $199??? Yeah with a 2-year CONTRACT, without your going to be dropping close to $400 for a brand new one.
Secondly whos going to drop over $200 on a Sciphone? They cost alot closer to $80-100 on TONS of sites ive seen all over… WITHOUT A CONTRACT.
Hmm lets see… a $400 dollar iphone w/o contract or a Sciphone w/o contract that works with multiple carriers and can support Dual sim cards at the same time for close to $100…you do the math.
Sure its no 3g or “Iphone”, but just goes to show with almost the same technology at hand apple is still filling their pockets with people throwing money at them who don’t even know their being ripped off.
Or you could buy a used iPhone on eBay for $150, jailbreak it, and you’d be in pretty good shape too
