Ann P Smith’s Robot Sculptures: Upcylcled Wonders
July 20th, 2008
Got a bunch of old electronic parts lying around? While they might end up in the trash heap for many of us, artist Ann P. Smith sees new life in old junk.
Smith takes broken down electronics and machine parts to create her amazing menagerie of animal and insect sculptures.
While they aren’t mechanical works themselves, many of her “robots” do feature posable joints, which she’s used to produce stop-motion animation of her critters.
Ann’s works are sold in galleries and shops around the US, and have been featured as illustrations in a number of magazines and other publications.
Find out more about Ann and her art over on her website burrowburrow. And when you’re ready to buy one of her pieces for your very own, be sure to check out her Etsy shop. Prices range from as little as $22 for simple insects, all the way up to $2500+ for her most intricate creations.

Hi, I am an eighth grader at Mount Hebron Middle School in Montclair, New Jersey. I am on the robotics team and we are trying to find a picture for our shirts. Our team is the Robo Rams started by F.I.R.S.T. We would love to use your picture of the robotic ram to put on the back of our shirt. We will of course right you as a sponsor on the back of our shirts. Please contact me, KC, at [email protected]
Thank you so much!
I am interested in your small scupture of a ram. Can you tell me a) is it for sale, b) how much is it and c) where/how can I purchase it?
thanks.
Hello, I am currently on a robotics team and I was searching for a “Thank You” for our mentors. So, I typed in “robot ram” in on google and noticed a picture of a Robo-Ram. I found that this would be perfect for a “Thank You” for the mentors because we are the Ross Rambotics. I was wondering if you would be able to sell a couple of these. Seeing as how we have little amounts of money, it would be great if you would be able to donate or sell a couple for cheap. We would need somewhere between 5-10 of them. If you could get back to me with info that would be great.

Uh, you want her to donate pieces of art that are basically one of a kind so you can give them as gifts to your teachers? That’s a lot of… balls are fun. And then you want her to get “back to me with that info that would be great?”
What planet are you from? Do they have any horse sense on that planet? When it rains, do the people drown?
wahh, its awesome i really like that and i thanks to anns works who has really done a very good experiments…u r a intelligent peson..
