Rubiks Mirror Blocks Puzzle Bumps Out of the Cube
September 22nd, 2008
Ready for a challenging puzzle? Check out this new variant on the classic Rubik’s Cube which isn’t comfortable just being perfectly square.

The new Rubik’s Mirror Blocks puzzle makes things a bit more complicated than the original by making each and every one of its blocks a slightly different size.

And instead of pretty colors, each one is covered with a mirrored surface, making it just that much more difficult to figure out.

I managed to find a video clip showing the unboxing of the new cube here:
The puzzle is slated for release in Japan in the next couple of weeks for ¥2079 (appx $20 USD), but I haven’t been able to find out anything about a North American release. Perhaps if you’re persuasive, you can convince the puzzle’s designer, Hidetoshi Takeji to ship you one. He was recently sighted on the TwistyPuzzles forums offering to ship them internationally.

From the looks of it, it is really hard to solve. I could not even get done the ordinary rubiks cube much more with this.

Easier than a normal rubik’s cube
(which I used to do in about thirty seconds… two minutes these days)
i can solve both a rubiks cube and this and this is the same thing but it takes longer because its harder to recognize the pieces
How is it easier? It’s exactly the same as far as solving goes, it just looks prettier :).
I think it looks prettier because when i look in it, i see me :P
I swear I saw this same thing in Barnes & Nobles the other day, and I didn’t really pay too much attention to it.
WOw!!!
It’s cooool!!!
I want one of that!!!
that’s a piece of art!!!!
My brother in law loves rubik’s cubes. I’m gonna have to snag one of these for him.
This looks totally cool! I’m excited to get a hold of one of the bad boys and show it off!
the one in b&n is different shades on each side. black, white, silver, and 3 shades of grey. the cube is also normal size/shape…
and this one’s probably harder because it seems like certain positions will “lock” it because it can’t turn!
COOL!!!
WHERE I COULD GET THIS?
I HOPE SOMEONE WHO HELP ME ON HOW TO HAVE THIS ONE?
PLEASE?
AND HOW MUCH?
I would try posting over in the Twisty Puzzle forums mentioned in the article.
You couldn’t even get in to the box hahahaha
they are already preselling them on eBay. I already ordered one.
Theres about 9 left or so. search for mirror blocks.

This looks totally cool! I’m excited to get a hold of one of the bad boys and show it off!

Friggin Japan gets to have all the fun~!
This looks totally cool! I’m excited to get a hold of one of the bad boys and show it off!
obviously ebay is a source, but anyone who wants one of these without waiting for 3 weeks shipping time for a winning bid from japan :-P can order one over at thinkgeek now. I ordered one the other day and expect delivery in a day or two.
Cool! were did you buy it? :)
Simon, I ordered it from thinkgeek.com, came from a US address… and another one from ebay, which came from Japan. both came to about the same price after shipping.
this is NOT easier than a normal 3x3x3, but it is the same method to solve it
and yes, ebay and thinkgeek.com are the best
unfortunately you missed the sale on ebay, where it was $13 and no shipping… but look on EBAY for sure
i bought one yesterday n took 9 hours to solve it….i nearly broke the damn thing. but i LOVEEEE IT! btw i bought it at toys r us in singapore
Gone one tonight, took about an hour to solve after a LL misstep and having to start over.. (average 45 seconds on a regular cube)
p.s. love it.
I have solved it :).
- In less than a hour ;)
you can buy it in this page
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.25029
I solve it in 40 seconds, average of 5 – 1´30
please tell me how to solve it :(
There are a lot of great points here, but I’m not sure I agree with real-time search being discarded. I agree that istanbul emlak it’s not very relevant, but isn’t the point of it to show what people are currently saying about a topic.
How is it easier? It
