No I totally agree that the 'ladies and gentlemen' series of adverts were much better than this, and imo have been their best ad campaign yet.

But you don't mention this once in the article, the whole point of something like this is to be self-explanatory, there shouldn't be any need for further clarification in the comments section for people to understand it.

"The whole ad looks like a string of demo videos put together. That’s the point of this article."
So if I understand what you're saying correctly, the point of this is to tell people that the adverts released before the PS3 was weren't actually very good...??

Compare this ad to the ones that came after it. Which one is better, the insanely long one that smothers you with vague and oversimplified explanations like demonstrating amount of data in terms of sunflowers or processing power in terms of snow, or short one that actually shows and identifies the games that you can play on the PS3?
You'd be stupid if you say that Sony didn't have any games at the time the ad was released. They had Resistance and Warhawk (and at least 12 others), games that are indeed shown in the ad, but instead of telling viewers that "Hey these are actual games here's what they're about" the whole ad looks like a string of demo videos put together. That's the point of this article.

I'm sorry I failed to mention that it's an old ad, but if you look at it's Youtube page you'll see that people didn't stop watching it after 2006. It's right here on the net where somewhere someone who still doesn't have a PS3 but is interested in getting one can see it. Which means my post is still relevant.
