Tonight’s nightmare is brought to you by the US Air Force Research Laboratory and their Playstation 1 – era CG presentation of the Micro Air Vehicles project. Narrated by someone who sounds almost exactly the same as Metal Gear Solid’s Col. Roy Campbell, the video outlines the ideal capabilities of MAVs, which are basically robotic bugs and birds.

Similar to their natural counterparts, MAVs will be able to crawl, fly and work in swarms to achieve their goals. These goals can be anything from surveillance to detecting biochemical or nuclear weapons, and even… eliminating human targets by exploding upon contact. That’s where the similarity ends.

You gotta love the background music.
