beamer iphone flash case helps you see and shoot

It’s been quite a while since I checked out quirky, the community-powered design-build-sell platform which gave birth to the kickster and the digidudes, among other things. So I visited their website and saw the beamer, a 2-piece plastic case for the iPhone 3G & 3GS that has a built-in flash. The flash can also be turned on indefinitely, so you can use it as a flashlight.

Is the iPhone really that small or does that woman have huge fingers? Either way she’ll be glad to know that the beamer’s LED light won’t accidentally turn on when the phone is in her bag or pocket, because the silicone button is set in a groove in the plastic case.

The beamer seems easy enough to use – press the button once and the light will turn on for 10 seconds, press it twice in a row and the light stays on until you press the button again, or until the beamer’s battery dies. That’s right: the case has its own battery, a replaceable Lithium coin cell that should be good for about 10 hours of light.

You can get the beamer at quirky’s online shop for $38 (USD). The website says that the case comes in “funky case colors”, but doesn’t specify said funky case colors. I also don’t know if the Beamers in the picture above are just renders or real. Maybe the folks at quirky should also consult their community about improving their product write-ups. :D
