Life expectancy on most flat panels is actually pretty good. Especially LED backlit models, which should give you 50,000 to 100,000 hours of continuous use. Most CRTs had a useful life around 80,000 hours.

Wish we could buy this in the USA… and that it came in 36″+. My uncle is looking into buying a used CRT because we do not like some of the features of the flat panel TVs — like the life expectancy, for instance.
