Beep Mug: have Yourself a Hot Upc of Coffee

Although this mug has got its barcode all around, for some reason it’s called the BEEP Mug. It was created by the British designer Colin O’Dowd and the mug does more than just look cool, it eliminates the need for any excessive packaging, since its own UPC barcode is integrated into the design of the mug.
It’s a great idea, though it defeats the purpose if you’re shipping one of these mugs. If you’re just picking one up in a store, I guess it makes more sense.
Unfortunately, the BEEP Mug isn’t yet available, so you’ll need to keep your eyes peeled on the Designboom store if you want one. Barcode scanner not included.

But again, shipping it inside a box from the UK sort of defeats the purpose of the packaging-free bar code idea. Then again, if you want a mug with a barcode on it just because it looks cool – go for it!
