Josh Chadwick’s Cadence Watch Melds Digital, Analog Worlds
February 22nd, 2010
From the looks of this cool new timepiece from designer Josh Chadwick, you might want to hold off until September to buy a new watch.
Chadwick recently created the design for this awesome timepiece during a design competition held by watchmaker Cadence Watch. The unique watch looks über-modern, but the hour and minute hands get their inspiration from classic analog watches. The design incorporates easy-to-read pointers around the circumference of the LCD face, while providing day, date and AM/PM details using a dot-matrix display in the center of the dial.
The original concept images also incorporated a unique magnetic clasp mechanism which Chadwick designed to make it easy to adjust the length of the band. I’m not sure if that will make it into the final production version, but it sure looks like a cool idea.
While the images shown above are clearly renderings of the concept design, Cadence promises to deliver the real goods this September for $119 (USD). If you want one, hit up their website and you can pre-reserve one now.
