Nesting USB Connectors: Like Christmas Lights, but for Your Gadgets

I have about 163 different USB gadgets on my desk at any given time – all fighting for the six USB ports my computer has. To fix this issue I have a USB hub plugged in that more than quadruples the number of USB devices I can connect at once ensuring my humping dog flash drive has all the juice it needs to defile my computer.

But USB hubs are a pain if you need to travel and your notebook doesn’t offer enough USB ports. This new concept for USB cables has turned up on Yanko Design and it’s very cool. The plugs for the cables are like Christmas lights where you can plug them in end-to-end.

This way you can plug several things into a single USB port without having to carry a hub with you. The obvious drawback were the concept to become reality is that the number you can nest would be limited by how much power each USB thingy draws.

Nice idea but obviously this would not work as you would need an usb hub chip in each connector.

..and there’s limits to how many usb hubs you can chain. I think it was 5 or 7 or something; can’t remember.
