Optical Illusion Shelves Would Make Escher Proud

Let’s face it, we all need shelves to store one sort of junk or another. I have shelves all over the place, mostly to hold all the Dr. Pepper cans I don’t want to get up and throw away. Yanko Design has some crazy shelves that make my eyes hurt.

This is the sort of optical illusion I look at for a while and then realize my eyes are crossed. The concept is called Imeuble and was designed by Bjorn Jorund Blikstad. The octagon shapes are angled up and appear to be flat and 3D at the same time. They are very cool and while only a concept, I bet you could build your own assuming you can cut straight, and know how to paint.

I really dig these shelves, even if I can’t pronounce the name the designer gave them.
