USB Port Cleaner: Didn’T Know We Needed One
May 25th, 2010
Apparently, USB ports need to be cleaned too. Huh. You learn something new everyday. I haven’t encountered a dirty USB port situation yet, but if you have and it’s preventing your computer and your gadgets from mating properly, then you might want to try out the aptly named USB Port Cleaner from Sanwa Supply.

To use the cleaner, just plug it into the USB port, and then plug it out. Do this two or three times. And that, my friend, is real gadget porn.

You can order the USB Port Cleaner at Brando; $17 (USD) gets you a pack of two cleaners.

i had one of these for my NES put a little cleaning solution (alcohol) on the test strip, it cleans the contacts when you pull it in and out… but from what i remember from my old one over cleaning can do more harm then good
17$, yeah sure.
Get a cotton swab, dip it in alcohol, and you’re done.
Just as they say on Dragon’s Den; You’ve invented something nobody needs.
There is a reason, why the USB contacts are gold plated. Gold does not oxidize thus there is nothing to clean. Just blow in the USB port and it is clean enough.
compressed air can is actually the preferred method per manufactures, at least it is according to the A+ certification exams.
wow this is the best product I’ve seen since the DVD rewinder.
