The $41 Netbook: Will It Play Farmville?

I don’t want to mock the guys who make this netbook. I can’t think of any reason why I or anyone I know would want to buy but hey, there are billions of people on Earth. Someone’s bound to find a use for this, even though it only runs Windows CE, has a 300Mhz ARM processor, 128 MB of RAM, and 2 GB of storage. I think the Nintendo DSi is more powerful than this 7″ netbook, but hey, it’s just $40.98 (USD)!

40 dollar netbook

Actually, it’s $80 if you add shipping. You can buy it on eBay (there are more than 10 units available! Wow!). No one will judge you. It could be your kid’s first computer! Also, you know what sucks about this whole thing? It has more USB ports than my MacBook. How insulting is that?

I don’t know if it will play Farmville, but it will most definitely blend – probably with a hand whisk.

and it even runs linux from sd or from internal flash.
android is available too… just be sure to get a machine with a WM8505 chipset.

hmmm. the ebay link says its a VT8500 chipset.
there is a linux version for that chipset aswell but no android.

It’s more powerful than the IBM-PC that people paid $3,000 for in 1981.

It makes more sense than a lot of so called book readers that cost more. Of course they are scamming the buyer with the shipping.

The iPad doesn’t have any USB ports. I would never buy that.

I have Linux on my Archos PMA400 and it is only 150 MHz, but it fits in my pocket. Some people that really know computers might buy it but the status seekers that don’t know computers won’t.
