Make Like Edison and Build Your Own Lightbulb
August 4th, 2010
Priced at $59.95 (USD), this could be the most expensive lightbulb you’ll ever buy. But at least you’ll experience the thrill that Thomas Edison must have had when he creating his first working bulb.

This science kit includes everything you need to make your own source of illumination – old school style. The kit includes a vacuum chamber, vacuum pump, tungsten and carbon filament, and wires to connect up a power source (in this case a pair of 6-volt alkaline batteries).
Plus, it comes with a 28-page instruction manual, making it not only the most pricey, but most complex lightbulb you’ll ever own. But in all fairness, the manual teaches a bunch of scientific concepts, not just how to assemble the light. You can get the DIY Light Bulb kit over at the MakerSHED.

You have got to be kidding me. Has anyone heard of Nikola Tesla? He invented something called the Tesla Coil, and I know for a fact that he did exist, and WAS a thousand times better than Edison, who promised Tesla heaps of money if he improved his factory – which he did – and then claimed it was a joke.
