Ortus Hast: World’S Smallest HD Display
October 25th, 2010
This great small display might be the next big thing for smart phones or mini-tablets, which is the form-factor that could benefit from this incredibly small HD display technology.

But how small is it? Just 4.8 inches, that’s all. It’s called the HAST (Hyper Amorphous Silicon TFT) screen and it features 1920×1080 resolution with a pixel density of 458ppi. It was unveiled today by ORTUS, which is a joint venture between Casio and Toppan Printing. To put things in perspective, The iPhone 4′s Retina Display is 3.5 inches with a resolution of 960×640 and a pixel density of 326ppi.
The display also can handle 16.8 million colors, and offers a 160-degree viewing angle. ORTUS expects this to be used for high performance security monitoring, but I’d like to see this on my next phone please.

err…1920×480 ?
even in your source said it was 1920×1080…
Corrected. Not sure how we missed that.
It would be helpful, if not mandatory to put the date of the post somewhere prominent, such as directly below the headline. Comments are the only real clue, especially if your original URL is obfuscated by a frame etc.
I came to this wonderful story very indirectly. As a film maker this article could have a huge effect on our production gear purchases. Contemporaneous relevance is vital, so we don’t go looking excitedly for something that’s out of date or worse, no longer made!
Great blog… now RSS’d!
Understand your concern – the date is there, but it’s all the way at the bottom of each post (they’re a little more prominent on the home page, though).
Ahhh indeed it is T-Bob – thanks. My sight is not what it was 8-); the shape of the ‘orange’ text also leads one’s eye to the right. I’ll pay closer attention… H
