Chobi Cam One Toy DSLR: Big Price for Small Size
January 21st, 2011
We’ve seen our fair share of hidden cameras, but this is one camera that seems to hide in plain sight. The Chobi Cam One camera is so small, you’ll hardly believe that it actually takes pictures and videos too.

Measuring about 1 in. x 1 in. x 1 in., the camera shoots pictures with a 1600 x 1200 resolution, and shoots videos up to 30 fps at 640 x 480. It also supports microSD and microSDHC cards up to 32GB and can transfer data via USB.

What’s more, the lenses you saw in the first picture are actually functional – there’s a telephoto lens and a fish-eye lens sold separately. The Chobi Cam One is currently available in Japan only. JTT is selling it for ¥9,800 (appx. $118 USD), while the lenses can cost up to $60 each. Pretty expensive for a crappy camera. It’s really tiny though.

I can’t imagine holding this thing steady enough to capture decent videos. Too bad it doesn’t have image stabilization. And with a lens that small, there’s no way it’ll capture anything other than noise in a dark environment, so I be it needs tons of light.
Still, the concept is fun.
