Crochet Android Figure is Proof that Grandma Really Likes Technology

by Shane McGlaun

My grandmother was a serious crochet fan. She had one of those bags she took with her everywhere, and if she sat long out came the giant spikes and snick, snick she would be making blankets and hats like the wind. I still have some of the blankets today. They are itchy as hell and the things aren’t that warm, but grandma made them so after 30 years they are still around.

If grandma were still around, I would so put her to work making me one of these sweet crochet 5.5-inch-tall Android figurines. They are out of stock right now, but in 2-3 weeks you can buy yourself one from bethsco already made up to play with.

If you can’t wait three weeks to get your own Android figure made from yarn, the directions for making your own are on the bethsco blog too. I will assume you need some crochet skills to do it, since I don’t even understand what the pattern is talking about.

  1. It still stands but, as the world’s thinnest smartphone. A splendid part of apps for the iPhone are free as well, and the market is still larger by a wide margin.
