Harman Audio has added a new set of headphones to their AKG line that is renowned for the audio clarity and quality. The new set of headphones is called the AKG GHS-1 and they are lightweight and designed with long wearing comfort in mind. The design of the headphones won a 2010 Red Dot Design Award.

The headphones use a special 3D-Axis2 folding mechanism in the headband that allows the headphones to fit better and allows them to be folded for storage. The headphones are designed with the PC gamer in mind sporting a 6mm cardioid directional boom mic that filters background noise and makes chatting while you are paying a game very easy. The mic also has an on/off switch.

The GHS 1 headphones are an over the ear style that add passive noise blocking to the mix and are able to seal in the sounds for a better sound experience. The frequency response for the headphones is 18Hz to 24kHz and the impedance is 32 ohms. The headphones weigh 170g. They’re currently available for $79.95 (USD) over at the Harman Audio website.

Seriously, these things are awesome. AKG makes a good headphone, so I’m excited to see how these stack up against the rest of their line.
