The iPad 2 is quickly becoming the go-to tablet for a lot of people. While other manufacturers are struggling to come up with viable competing devices, Apple is laughing all the way to the bank. That being said, if you are trying to use your iPad 2 as a computer, you’ll most definitely need a keyboard of some sort. This one comes in a handy portfolio case from Qmadix.

The Qmadix portfolio comes with a removable Bluetooth keyboard, giving you the choice to carry it around or leave it at home, while still keeping your iPad in the case. The portfolio doubles as a stand to allow for an upright viewing position too. The keyboard works with iPads as well as iPhones, and iPod Touches too.

The case also comes with a rechargeable battery, but it’s unclear if that’s only for the keyboard, or if it can be used to give your iPad some extra juice. It all sounds good, but it is pricey, with the Qmadix portfolio selling for $149.99 (USD). At least it comes with free shipping in the US.

Unfortunately the quality is very questionable. I purchased a brand new one at Fry’s and a week after that, two things happened. First, the metal slot where you insert the charging cable disappeared inside the leather cover. So I can’t recharge anymore. Second, one of the keyboard buttons fell off. I haven’t even used that key.

Fry’s won’t allow me to return the item because they said it was not in new condition anymore. I called Qmadix customer service and all I got was a voice mail. I left a message and sent them also an e-mail. Let’s see how they respond.

I plan on buying one through Costco when they go on sale on 7/22…. Costco has a very liberal return policy…All electronic computer items have a 90 return policy no questions asked other than why are you returning it. Costco’s price is $99.99…

    • JJohn says:

That is a good price, Alex. I bought mine at Fry’s for $129. By the way, Qmadix told me to take it back to Fry’s. I did.

I forgot to mention that I may have picked up a returned item that was why it broke easily. Do let us know how your’s go.
