Motorola MOTOACTV Smart Watch Ready to Take on the iPod Nano
October 18th, 2011
Not a fan of the iPod Nano? Is it not smart enough for you? Well, you may have a decent alternative soon. At its NYC press event today Motorola announced MotoACTV, the company’s new smart watch. Admittedly, that image doesn’t shout style and make me want to buy one, but what does it have going for it?

Well, it has a 600MHz processor and weighs just 35 grams for one thing. MOTOACTV combines a GPS-enabled touchscreen watch with a smart music player. Those looking for a watch to workout to should like the fact that it learns songs that will make you exercise harder and it plays those songs more often. (This is where the ACTV part comes into play. Get it?)

There’s also a built-in heart rate monitor and it will give you performance stats like duration, distance, avg. pace, calories burned, and avg. heart rate through a Bluetooth headset. It also has an FM radio built in, and will peer with your smartphone to allow your to answer calls or read texts from the watch display.

It will track your running, walking and cycling stats outside, and treadmill and step machine stats indoors. If you like, you can access your stats via a web browser as well at motoactv.com. So yeah, basically this is a smart-Nano for fitness geeks. MOTOACTV will be available on November 6th, with an 8GB version costing $249.99 (USD) and a 16GB model for $299.99.

with that price?
yeah i think im going to get one a little later since I just bought the alarm and the tracking system. this would work great while the car is running or carjacked. I just cant remote start to far away with this installed. I would only remote start where I can see the car anyways. good find, seems to be a good product. incase someone might have a gps jammer, they would not be able to get away with this on the car. all three together makes it even more difficult to even thinking about stealing the ride now.www.jammerall.com
