Cacoon Tent Hammock: Let’s Hang Out
January 27th, 2012
When you tell someone you want to hang out with them, I doubt that you’re using that expression in the literal sense. But now you actually can, if you’ve got a Cacoon for yourself and a spare one for your companions.

The Cacoon is basically a hammock-slash-tent-slash-swing (if you’re going to be hanging it somewhere where there’s going to be a lot of swinging.) From the looks of it, it’s definitely comfortable. It also looks cozy and roomy enough for two or three, depending on the total weight of you and your companions.
The cool thing is that you can hang the Cacoon anywhere you want to – as long as you’re sure it’s sturdy enough to support a substantial amount of weight. People have hung their Cacoons on trees, in their rooms, in their backyards, and from boat masts. If you had one, where would you be hanging yours?

If you’re interested in getting a Cacoon, they’re available online and are priced at $349(USD) for singles and at $550 for doubles.

Pretty nifty.
I’d choose my hanging spots carefully. You’d want a versatile hitch or excellent knot making skills. I’m a big guy even when I’m trimmed down and would not want to wake up in the middle of the night to the sound of snapping wood as a tree fails to support its new temporary load as the wind picks up.
Still, if one uses good judgement, this products is a neat idea. Not laying on rocks below the tent’s surface and no cold damp floors would be nice and who needs air mattresses.
Cool stuff.
I’ve been in one of these at a trade show, it was lined with sheepskin and big pillows, it was one of the most comfortable relaxing things i’ve ever done, I didn’t want to get out ! I will be getting one for my Graphics Studio so that I can just go and relax every now and again. ( I will definately be lining it with the sheepskin as well !)
