Acer Iconia B1-A71, The $150 Tablet

by Range

Don’t get me wrong, I love my iPad, but it is quite an expensive device. The iPad Mini isn’t that much cheaper, at about $150 less for the similarly-specced version. Then again, you could always get Acer’s new Android tablet, which will set you back only $150 (USD).

It was initially thought that Acer’s B1-A71 would cost less than $100, but $150 is still pretty cheap. That’s the price of a pair of good sneakers, making it very affordable. The tablet has a 7-inch WSVGA (1024√ó600) display, which is powered by a Mediatek¬†1.2 GHz dual-core processor. It will ship running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and has access to the hundreds of thousands of apps available from Google Play. It comes with 8GB of internal storage, 512MB of RAM, and a microSD card slot. The front-facing camera is 0.3MP, which isn’t great, but should suffice for video chats. Wireless connectivity is 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0, and there’s no cellular data option, though.

Acer has announced that it the B1-A71 will be available at the end of January 2013.

Here’s another new Tablet that stands out — this week Ainol Electronics NOVO 7 VENUS launches for only $149 and available at a site called TabletSprint – Ainol Electronics is noted for winning Runner-Up for “Best Tablet of the Year” at CES 2012.

The Novo 7 Venus is a 7″ tablet that offers a QUAD CORE processor and stacks up against the Nexus 7 — offers a high resolution 1280×800 IPS Display– 16GB Memory, HDMI 1080p to play Games on HD TV and to stream movies to a big screen, MicroSD Card memory storage slot, Google Play installed and much more… TabletSprint also includes $25 in Bonus Apps – certainly worth checking out for this price.

Also available next week is the new Novo 10 Hero II – a full size
10 inch Quad Core Android 4.1 tablet packed with features and TabletSprint offers a 32GB version for $249 —
