Amazon Echo Can Now Lock Your Door

Locking your doors is such a hassle. You probably have some kind of wrist problem from the repetitive strain. If only there were some way to stay on the sofa and continue eating cheetos, while an assistant locked the door for you. Well, there is. Amazon Echo will handle it, you lazy human. I’m being sarcastic, but we are pretty lazy. Still, this will be good for making sure that your door is locked without having to get up and check.

August Home is introducing an Alexa skill that gives you voice control over its Smart Lock system. If you have a first or second-generation lock with an August Connect bridge, you can ask Alexa to check a lock’s status and to actually lock the door with your voice.

Now if your door isn’t locked and you get robbed while you’re sitting on the couch, you have no excuse. It couldn’t be easier.
