This Is Why You Can’t Steal Rolls Royce Hood Ornaments

Here’s something that I bet you didn’t know. These days, it’s pretty hard to steal a Rolls Royce hood ornament. As Mark Powell from Rolls Royce Tampa Bay demonstrates, this is because the Rolls has an interesting anti-theft feature on them.

The anti-theft device stops people from stealing the Spirit of Ecstasy, which is the name for the hood ornament on a Rolls. If the ornament is messed with, it jumps down into the hood of the car and is covered by a panel, like a turtle retreating into its shell.

This feature has been standard on all Rolls Royce models since 2004, as it should be for the price of these cars. It’s okay if you didn’t know this. We can’t all have a Rolls Royce parked in the driveway after all.
