Life-Size R2-D2 Collectible is Every ’80s Kid’s Dream

Growing up, I loved Star Wars and the only thing I wanted more than my own lightsaber was a life size R2-D2. Granted I wanted R2 to move around and do stuff, not just sit on a platform looking very cool. The new Sideshow Toys life-size R2-D2 character can’t move around and unlock doors or hack into computers for you, but it is awesome nonetheless.

Measuring in at 48″ high, the little astrodroid is life-size and painted to look like he has spent some time in the rough. The statue also has screen accurate lights and sounds. Sounds are triggered from the included remote control that stores in a hidden compartment next to the speaker. His dome can be rotated left and right, and R2’s base is made to look like the floor of the Millennium Falcon.

The big statue comes with a big price of $7,450(USD). You can get it on a payment plan for $745 monthly, but it won’t ship until you are done paying. Shipping is expected to start in May-July of 2017.
